Job Title: Maintenance Head

Reports to: Factory Manager

Duty Station: Addis Ababa

JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB Summary:

The Maintenance Head is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing all maintenance activities within the factory to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of machinery and equipment. The role focuses on minimizing downtime, improving equipment reliability, and supporting continuous production

The position requires strong technical expertise in mechanical and electrical systems, along with the ability to diagnose and resolve maintenance-related issues. The Maintenance Head plays a critical role in ensuring that all machines, tools, and systems are properly maintained and operating at optimal performance levels.

Key responsibilities:

•  Plan, organize, and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance activities for all factory equipment.

•  Ensure proper functioning of mechanical and electrical systems within the plant.

• Monitor machine performance and identify areas for improvement.

• Diagnose equipment failures and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.

• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to reduce breakdowns and downtime.

• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety standards and operational procedures.

• Coordinate with production teams to minimize disruption during maintenance activities.

• Maintain records of maintenance work, equipment performance, and downtime.

• Manage spare parts inventory and ensure availability of critical components.

• Lead and supervise maintenance technicians and ensure skill development.

• Evaluate new equipment and recommend upgrades or replacements when necessary.

JOB SPECIFICATION

Qualifications

·  Education:

BSc/MSc in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

 Required Skills:

•      Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance roles within manufacturing or factory environments.

•      Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.

•      Ability to diagnose and solve maintenance problems systematically.

•      Experience in machine performance monitoring and continuous improvement.

•      Strong leadership and team management skills.

•      Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.

•      Strong communication and reporting skills.
