Job Title: Welder & Sheet Metalist

Duty Station:  Addis Ababa

JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB Summary:

The Welder & Sheet Metalist is responsible for performing welding and sheet metal fabrication tasks to produce and assemble metal components according to engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications. The role focuses on precision, quality workmanship, and adherence to safety standards in all fabrication processes.

Key responsibilities:

·   Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications accurately.

·   Perform welding operations using appropriate techniques (MIG, TIG, Stick, etc.).

·   Fabricate, cut, bend, and assemble sheet metal components as required.

·   Ensure all welded and fabricated parts meet quality and dimensional standards.

·   Set up and operate welding and sheet metal fabrication equipment.

·   Inspect finished work pieces and correct any defects or deviations.

·   Maintain tools, machines, and work areas in clean and safe condition.

·   Follow all safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE).

·   Record work completed and report any issues to supervisors.

JOB SPECIFICATION       

Qualifications

·  Education:

o   TVET (10+1) / Level II in General Mechanics, GMFA, or Welding from a recognized TVET institution.

Required Skills:

·  Minimum 2 years of experience in welding and sheet metal fabrication.

·  Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.

·  Proficiency in welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Stick, etc.).

·  Skills in sheet metal fabrication including cutting, bending, and assembling.

·  Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.

·  Basic troubleshooting skills for fabrication equipment.

·  Good teamwork, communication, and safety awareness.
