Job Title:   Junior Lathe Machine Operator

Reports to: Production Supervisor

Duty Station: Addis Ababa

JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB Summary:

The Junior Lathe Machine Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining lathe machines to produce precision metal components according to engineering drawings and specifications. The role focuses on ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and quality in all machining operations while adhering to safety standards.

The position requires technical proficiency in CNC programming, machine setup, and precision measurement, and works closely with production and quality teams to achieve production targets.

Key responsibilities:

·  Operate manual and CNC lathe machines to manufacture metal parts and components.

·  Set up machines according to engineering drawings, technical specifications, and production plans.

·   Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and other technical documentation.

·   Measure and inspect finished products using precision tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.

·   Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machines to ensure optimal performance.

·  Adjust machine settings to maintain accuracy and quality standards.

·   Follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with operational procedures.

·   Record production output, machine performance, and maintenance activities.

·  Identify and report defects or deviations to the supervisor or quality control team.

·  Assist in training or guiding new or junior operators as required. Prepare detailed technical reports, process documentation, and project plans.

JOB SPECIFICATION     

Qualifications

·  Education:

o  Level 4 TVET in General Mechanics with COC, or Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Lathe Machine Operation.

·  Experience:

o   Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Lathe Machine Operator.

Required Skills:

·  Proficiency in CNC programming and machine setup.

·  Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.

·  Precision measurement skills using tools like calipers, micrometers, and gauges.

·  Knowledge of metalworking, machining techniques, and safety procedures.

·  Ability to troubleshoot minor machine issues.

·   Attention to detail and strong quality focus.

·  Good teamwork and communication skills.
